Haute Joaillerie en Plastique

When one thinks of high jewelry and of the luxury market, what comes to mind is precious metals, diamonds, savoire-faire of fine artisan craftsmanship. Though CAD design has become a cornerstone in jewelry creation from commercial costume to high jewelry houses in Paris, I wanted to experiment on using the resin prints of 3D printers and combining it with luxury materials of precious stones and metal.

This piece mimics the look of luxury but produced directly from 3D printed material. My main inspiration comes from wanting to recreate the look of iconic hand-carved rock crystal high jewelry of the early 20th century, while the back decoration mimics hand-carved intaglio technique. The use of gold enamel painting was used in order to bring out the dimensionality of the 3D printed carving, while also adding hints of gold.
