Though gouache rendering is usually done on a gray-toned or brown paper nowadays, I always loved the look of jewelry rendering on black board or paper. The blackboard works well with rich colored stones like rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. This earring was inspired more so for a classic pearl tassel look, but I wanted to challenge myself by illustrating it on black board.
